Backstories

Backstories is a collection of sculptures and the unusual stories behind them, as described through graphic ephemera displayed along with each piece. This work defies the boundaries of sculpture and installation and requires the viewer to spend time and exploration to reveal its story, perhaps even after they have left the exhibition. "Backstories" was originally exhibited at 108 Contemporary (Tulsa, OK) in February 2025. (See the MEDIA page for a review of Backstories in The Pickup, a Tulsa OK arts and culture publication). From October 2025 through April 2026, "Selections from Backstories was exhibited at the Dennos Museum Center (Traverse City, MI). Now "Backstories" will make its way to metro Detroit, opening September 25, 2026 at the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center (Birmingham, MI). This incarnation will include several new works that have never been shown.
